Pet Allergy Xplorer & Allergen Specific Immunotherapy (ASIT)
For many allergic pets, medications help control symptoms but do not address the underlying cause of disease.
Allergen Specific Immunotherapy (ASIT) is currently the only treatment designed to modify the immune system’s response to environmental allergens. Some patients experience significant improvements that medication can be substantially reduced or eliminated altogether.
PAX® is currently the most advanced molecular allergy testing available in veterinary medicine. Unlike traditional allergy testing, PAX® evaluates individual allergen molecules.
Results from PAX® testing are used to formulate a personalised immunotherapy treatments tailored specifically to your pet’s allergy profile.
Benefits of ASIT may include:
• Reduction in itching and skin inflammation
• Improved control of recurrent ear disease
• Reduced reliance on long-term medications
• Improved quality of life
• Long-term management of environmental allergies
ASIT is most commonly recommended for patients with environmental allergies after allergies have been appropriately investigated and managed.
While individual responses vary, ASIT remains the only treatment aimed at modifying the underlying allergic response rather than simply controlling symptoms.
Important
Allergy testing is not used to diagnose allergic skin disease.
Environmental allergies are diagnosed through a thorough dermatological investigation. PAX® is reserved for selected patients after a diagnosis has been established and the disease is well controlled.
Allergy testing has very limited value in the investigation of food allergies, which can only be diagnosed through a structured elimination diet trial.
From your first contact through longterm management, we support both you and your pet through every stage of the process.
